Please join us in congratulating Cristiana Baloescu on being named the Resident of the Month for June!
Here are some of the things residents and attendings said about Cristiana in their nominations:
“Handled multiple back-to-back intubations on a crazy day.”
“When I show up on a shift and I see that I am working with Cristiana, I know it’s going to be a good day no matter what comes through the doors.”
“Despite the craziness of a busy shift, she found the time to speak with a several groups of family members about the goals of care of a complicated patient. She demonstrated great patience and persistence in her conversation combined with compassion and recognizing that this was a very difficulty decision.”
Kudos, Cristiana on all the hard work!

Six residents, mid-levels, and attendings in the Yale-New Haven Emergency Department were recognized in April by patients in written letters and surveys to the hospital.
Iris Chandler, MD (PGY-1)
Lei Chen, MD
Amy Glick, APRN
Nir Harish, MD
Jessica Lockel, PA
Karen Santucci, MD

All the residents who work with Drs. Leigh Evans, Rachel Liu, and Karen Santucci know that they are going to have a great shift learning from this amazing educators, so it comes as no surprise to us that these three were received awards from another part of the Yale Community, the School of Medicine.
At the Commencement for the Class of 2015, these three were each recognized for their contributions to the education of the graduating class.
Dr. Leigh Evans received the Alvan R. Feinstein Award for outstanding teaching of clinical skills.
Dr. Rachel Liu received the Charles W. Bohmfalk Prize for teaching in the clinical sciences
Dr. Karen Santucci was one of two recipients of the Leah M. Lowenstein Award for excellence in the promotion of humane and egalitarian medical education.

The Yale Medical Library now has the electronic version of Harwood and Nuss: Clinical Practice of Emergency Medicine, 6th Edition electronically. So residents, log on to your Yale VPN and access our program’s core textbook from any computer for free!

Andrew Chou MD, PGY2, was just selected to receive an Emergency Medicine Foundation resident research grant to support his efforts for the next 12 months. Congratulations, Andrew! We can’t wait to see what great things come out of your efforts.
