The Department of Emergency Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital is excited to announce its first ever PA Residency Class, the Class of 2016. Jordan Gleason and Bryce Campbell will be joining us this June for 18 months of advanced emergency medicine training.

Jordan Gleason, MSPAS

Hometown:

North Branford, CT

Education:

Springfield College, MSPAS, 2015
Springfield College, BS, 2014

Hobbies/Interests:

I love fishing, boating, swimming, and anything else there is to do in the water. I also enjoy some land activities, such as hiking and mountain biking. In the wintertime, I enjoy snowmobiling and learning to ski. I also love to sit down and watch a good movie; any genre and from any era, but truly I love classic horror movies.

Past Life:

I primarily worked in EMS as an EMT, then a paramedic (AMR New Haven, North Branford FD) before I went to PA school. I also worked in the culinary arts and in construction.

Academic Interests:

EMS and critical care

Favorite activities in New Haven:

I love the food scene in New Haven, so naturally walking through downtown trying “hole-in-the-wall” shops/restaurants.

Why Yale EM:

Yale was an amazing opportunity for me as a physician assistant to advance my education and knowledge clinically. The health system serves two largely urban, underserved communities on the shoreline in southern Connecticut, which provides us a great exposure to high-volume, high-acuity emergency departments; along with off-service rotations to round off a very well organized EM program. Faculty here are geniuses in their fields and eager to teach us all that they know.

Random factoid:

I was part of the team on TLC’s Extreme Home Makeover in Springfield, MA.

Past Life:

My first job was making pizza, I won fastest pizza in the Northwest competition. ER Technician and Unit Coordinator for Provident Health Systems, Newberg, Oregon

Academic Interests:

EMS, Ultrasound, Toxicology

Favorite activities in New Haven:

Exploring the different restaurants and beaches. Eating PIZZA!

Why Yale EM:

Yale offers an incredible opportunity to learn in a fast-paced, high yield emergency department. Yale is the main hospital and trauma center servicing lower Connecticut and the rural shoreline cities and provides an excellent blend of medicine, trauma and pathology. Yale has the best opportunities to learn alongside some of the brightest medical minds in the world.

Random factoid:

I can juggle.
