The Department of Emergency Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital is proud to welcome its PA Residency Class of 2018.

Manuel Pabom, PA

Hometown:

Miramar, FL

Education:

University of Central Florida

South University (Savannah), MPAS

Hobbies/Interests:

Playing progressive metal guitar, video games, and exercising

Past Life:

I would play guitar for 4-5 hours every day in the hopes of becoming the next John Petrucci. There is no “next John Petrucci”.

Academic Interests:

Emergency ultrasound, toxicology

Favorite activities in New Haven:

Exploring the city and finding cool new places to stuff my face with food.

Why Yale EM:

The emergency medicine program here is well established and offers a variety of opportunities to expand the medical acumen of EM physician assistants. Few programs across the country come close to offering what Yale does for PA’s.

Random factoid:

I enjoy quality hip-hop music as much as I do rock and metal! Let’s talk music.

Mirofora Paradis, PA

Hometown:

Milford, CT

Education:

Bachelor of Science in English and Biological Sciences, UConn

Masters of Physician Assistant Studies, University of Bridgeport

Hobbies/Interests:

Back in the day when I had more free time my favorite activity was curling up with a nice cup of tea and Jane Austen novel. I’ve dabbled in knitting, enjoy baking, and am a lover of all things Star Wars and Harry Potter. These days I spend most of my time trying to be the best auntie possible to my many nieces and nephews.

Past Life:

Long time waitress and EMT. I also taught Greek to school-aged children, which was quite arguably my biggest challenge. I’ve had the opportunity to work with a remarkable group of doctors and nurses in a health clinic in Queztaltenango, Guatemala three times and hope to return soon for a fourth.

Academic Interests:

Global health and healthcare accessibility.

Favorite activities in New Haven:

Eating all the food!

Why Yale EM:

Yale has everything I was looking for as a PA trying to further my education and experience in emergency medicine: diverse population, strong interest in global health, world class faculty dedicated to educating future providers. Working in EMS in the area prior to PA school I had the opportunity to transport patients to the York Street ED and I always admired the providers I came across there. It’s surreal having the opportunity to not only work but further my education here.

Random factoid:

I can juggle – only 3 objects at a time but I do it efficiently and I’d like to think I could find work as a clown if this whole medicine thing doesn’t work out.
