Emergency Medicine Lectures will take place at Yale on Wednesday, April 22nd beginning at 9:00am. This is a full-day event for the Wilderness Medicine, Ultrasound, and EMS Areas of Concentrations. Please don’t switch randomly, as the groups will be lopsided.
Each AOC is meeting in a different place so be sure to head to the proper spot.
The Wilderness AOC is meeting at 9:45am at Carabiner’s Rock Climbing Gym, 85 Mill Plain Rd, Fairfield, CT 06824.
1000-1045 – learn about Climbing techniques, injury patterns, management
1045-1115 – knot tying workshop
1130-1330 – rock climbing – the residency will cover costs for climbing; harnesses will be provided for all those who need
The EMS AOC is meeting at the New Haven Regional Fire Training Academy, 230 Ella T. Grasso Blvd, near the intersection with Kimberly Avenue. As you drive in take the road that curves to the right and go through the chain link gate into the large open lot and park. Please come directly to the academy – enter the front door and come to the large auditorium on the left. Lunch will be provided.
9:00am-10:00am: Lecture on Small Space Rescue by Dr. David Cone
10:00am –> Small Space Rescue Simulation with the New Haven Fire Dept. Heavy Rescue Unit
You will be using harnesses, respirators, and crawling through small spaces treating injured simulation patients and assisting with their extrication. PLEASE WEAR RUGGED, COMFORTABLE CLOTHES AND STURDY SHOES OR BOOTS- YOU WILL GET DIRTY!!!!



The Ultrasound AOC is meeting in the Sim Center at 9:00am for some high-fidelity critical care sim cases using ultrasound! We have a bunch of great cases lined up to challenge residents of all levels. We will finish off the session with a review of the articles used at this year’s Sonogames at SAEM to help our team, the Ultrahounds, get ready for the national stage! Breakfast is provided.
